Some are heralding this as a cost-saving measure by the company, while others are concerned about the quality of the product.
So, what’s the difference? And which one should you buy? Here’s what you need to know.
01. Importer Tag
US Nitrotech jars will always include the official importer tag, i.e., GMC (Shri Balaji Overseas).
Indian Nitrotech jars are manufactured locally, which is why they won’t have an importer tag.
02. Formula
US Nitrotech jars contain Whey Protein Isolates and Peptides as the primary ingredient. They also have Enzyplex, which helps with digestion.
Indian Nitrotech jars contain Whey Protein Concentrate (WPC) as the primary ingredient, but the overall calories are almost the same when compared with US jars.
On a side note, Enzyplex contains the following two important ingredients:
- Amylase is extracted from seeds, and its main purpose is to disintegrate carbohydrates and make them into sugar, which will give you an instant energy boost.
- Papain is derived from the unripe papayas, and its main purpose is to help digest high-protein intake.
So if you have issues with digestion, it’s better to go with US jars.
03. Number Of Servings
US Nitrotech jars include a lower number of servings, i.e., 40 (approx).
Indian Nitrotech jars include a higher number of servings, i.e., 44 (approx)
So if you are tight on budget, then US Nitrotech jars are a better option.
04. Amino Acid Profile
US Nitrotech jars do not disclose the complete amino acid profile.
Indian Nitrotech jars have the full amino acid profile displayed on the label.
05. Bio-Engineered Ingredients
US Nitrotech jars contain Bio-Engineered (GMO) ingredients. USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) labeling regulation requires companies to disclose the presence of GMO ingredients in their products.
Indian Nitrotech jars do not mention any Bio-Engineered ingredients. This may be due to a lack of regulatory requirements or because they may actually not contain any such ingredients.
06. Cholesterol Level
US Nitrotech jars contain a higher level of cholesterol, i.e., 85mg.
Indian Nitrotech jars contain a lower level of cholesterol, i.e., 67mg.
So if you are using multiple servings on a daily basis, then it’s better to go with Indian Nitrotech jars.
07. Distributor and Manufacturer
US Nitrotech jars are manufactured and distributed internationally by Iovate Health Sciences.
Indian Nitrotech jars are manufactured locally by Superchem Nutri Formulations and distributed by GMC (Shri Balaji Overseas).
08. Docket Number
US Nitrotech jars will include the US country code in the docket number.
Indian Nitrotech jars will include IN country code in the docket number.
09. FSSAI Green Dot
US Nitrotech jars will include the green dot on the importer tag.
Indian Nitrotech jars will have a large green dot printed on the label in front of the flavor.
The FSSAI Green Dot indicates that the product is vegetarian.
10. MRP Details
US Nitrotech jars will have the MRP printed on the importer tag.
Indian Nitrotech jars will have the MRP printed on the jar label.
Please note that the MRP for both variants is the same. Although you will find that US jars are slightly more expensive than Indian jars.
So if you are tight on budget, then you should go for the Indian Nitrotech jar.
11. Supplement Labelling Format
US Nitrotech jars will have the ingredients and their quantities listed under the heading of Supplement Facts.
Indian Nitrotech jars will have the ingredients and their quantities listed under the heading of Nutritional Information.
12. Manufacturing and Expiry Information
US Nitrotech jars will have the expiry details printed at the bottom of the jar and the mfg date on the importer tag.
Indian Nitrotech jars will have both mfg and expiry details printed on the jar label.
It’s interesting to note that Nitrotech made in USA has a greater shelf life (3yrs) when compared to its Indian counterpart (2yrs).
Conclusion
The Indian and US variants of the product are virtually identical, with the only major difference being the use of Whey Protein Isolates as a primary source in the US Nitrotech jars. Apart from this, both the whey powder variants taste, feel, and look almost the same.
